ASL Parenting Techniques - Mom to Mom

Let me start by saying I am NOT a social worker, or a child physcologist, or a teacher by trade. If you're a fellow Mom, you know we simply are those things, and we're all doing our best. Some days are a struggle, some days are a breeze. Below you'll find some techniques I used with my older children, and plan to use again with my youngest to sail as smoothly as possible through some of the chaos of life. Enjoy and use your best judgement on what works for your family and your children.

This is a breif letter to new moms from the webmaster.

Kids love to please their parents. Contrary to what you might be feeling when they are pushing your every button, they really are NOT intending to upset you. If you lay out clear expectations for your children early on you will find they strive hard (95%+/- lol) to meet your expectations for them. By likening their behavior to two simple beloved animals it also makes your expectations easy to remember. Click the title to learn more!

I'm not even kidding. Make supplies to work with your kids and teach them. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on fancy gadgets, office supplies, and teaching materials. With a few arts and crafts supplies that you probably having lieing around or could easily pick up at a dollar store you can make all your own teaching supplies and help your kids get their best foot forward! Click this link to check out some examples of different tools I've made and purchased as well as some links to supplies that can be purchased for those who aren't arts-and-crafts-inclined ;)

This page goes over methods we have found useful to reward and coach young children on everything from good citizenship to good workmanship up until they were old enough to merit an allowence.
