Food & Drink
Food and drink is so common it might get overlooked, but it is so important! Without the ability to sign and communicate about food it is very hard to ask your child what they had for lunch that day, or what they thought about dinner, or what they'd like for breakfast. Here are some common food and drink that Lizzie and I just love!
Junk Food Healthy Food
Pizza - you make the letter z twice by holding out 2 fingers, and drawing the "z" shape in the air. Bring it to a close.
Candy -You twist your finger in your cheek.
Milk - it's like your milking a cow! Easy - peasy!
Milk
Water - you make theletter "w" and bounce it on your chin. This can be used to describe water in general, or drinking water.
Cookie - it's like you're using a cookie cutter to make cookies!
Banana - it's like you're peeling a banana!
Cupcake - first you sign "cup", then you sign "cake". "Cupcake!" :9 Yum!
Soda - pull your middle finger from your closed fist, then drop your open palm on top
Apple - you twist your knuckle in your cheek to sign "apple". Very similiar to candy...
Corn - it's like you're eating corn on the cob, and your finger is the cob.
Carrot - it's like you're eating a carrot, and your thumb is the carrot!
Bread - it's like one hand is the loaf of bread, and the other hand is slicing it! Yum! :9
Watermelon - you make the letter "w" at your chin, then gently flick the back of your hand, literally - "Water" - "Melon".
