It's important to talk to young children about their futures. It is also easily overlooked for deaf children. Discuss with your child now the possibilities the world has to offer them, and it's as easy as asking this simple pointed question: What do you want to be when you grow up?

In English: What do you want to be when you grow up? Do you want to be a doctor? Or maybe want be nurse? Or maybe you want be ASL teacher! Practice makes improvement! :)

 

The important thing is to get them discussing it and thinking about their futures. About a day when they might have the confidence and skills to venture out into the world. It's been my experience as a mother that all children need to dream of their future in bright lights, and you are the one with the tools they need! Show them the way to dreaming big! Of course, don't forget to remind them they are loved, no matter what career path they end up taking in life.
